Built in 1922 by the Barrett Company, 40 Rector Street is an 18-story Renaissance Revival office building. The project, designed by the renowned architectural firm Warren & Wetmore — architects of Grand Central Terminal — features a three-story rusticated stone base and detailed copper cornices across its 450,000-square-foot floorplate. Once a prestigious waterfront headquarters for the chemical industry, the building now serves as a modern office condominium hub for organizations like the NAACP, Doctors Without Borders, and the Metropolitan College of New York.
